Film production assistants might well be the most important role on a film set. Sure, it’s not as senior as a director, or as thrilling as a videographer. But they’re the glue that keep it all together. We run A film production assistant trainee scheme where young people get hands on experience in all aspects of film production.

Production assistant are responsible for providing support to the production team on a film or television set. They are often the first point of contact for cast and crew members, and they play a vital role in making sure the production runs smoothly.
The duties of a production assistant can vary depending on the size and scope of the production, but generally they include tasks such as running errands, assisting with set setup and breakdown, coordinating with vendors, helping to organise and distribute call sheets and schedules, and performing other administrative duties as needed. Theymay also be responsible for helping to manage extras, keeping track of equipment and props, and assisting in the coordination of transportation and lodging for cast and crew.
One of the main responsibilities is organising the day-to-day operations of the production. This can include tasks such as creating and distributing call sheets, which detail the schedule for the day’s shoot, and helping to organise the transportation and lodging for cast and crew members. So what skills do production assistant need? Smiley and friendly is key! You need to build relationships. But you also need to be organised, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. They should also be able to take direction well and work well under pressure. Being a film production assistant can be a challenging and demanding job, but it can also be very rewarding. PAs have the opportunity to work with a talented and creative team of professionals, and they learn a great deal about the film and television industry. It is also a great way to build skills, learn more, have fun, and kickstart a career in film.
