Are you passionate about the world of film and social media? Are you a skilled TikTok creator and know what works? Are you keen to use your skills to support people living with mental illness? If so, this exciting opportunity to join our production trainee scheme creating film content for Rethink Mental Illness’ TikTok channel alongside upskilling in all aspects of shooting and editing films could be for you.
We are looking for a individual aged 18 – 30 to work with us to create short form video’s for Rethink Mental Illness’ TikTok channel which raises awareness of mental illness amongst an audience of young people across the country.
Inside Job Productions and Rethink Mental Illness aim to help people living with mental health problems, therefore we encourage applications from those of you who have lived experience of mental illness.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in:
- January – February: A 4-week (2 days per week) training course in film production where you will learn how to shoot and edit content using professional kit as well as how to create content for TikTok / social media. You will also learn about pre-production including how to respond to briefs and tailor content for the end audience.
- Filming, directing, and editing exciting and compelling content aimed at an audience of 18-30 year olds.
- Contributing to the development of a social media mental health channel.
- Being a part of the growth of Rethink Mental Illness’ TikTok channel.
- Working closely with and learning from experienced media and marketing professionals.
- Receiving support to help you grow both personally and professionally.
Who should apply:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about film and media production. We want you to be creative, enthusiastic and keen to learn more about the world of digital and video communications and the use of social media to make a change in the world. You’ll be passionate about good mental health, a creative thinker who has unique ideas for creating compelling video content that deals with mental illness, raises awareness of symptoms, outlines different types of treatment/support and helps reduce stigma.
We’d like you to be comfortable in front of and behind the camera. You’ll have an interest in emerging trends in social media content and experience of creating and editing content natively in TikTok, Instagram and YouTube shorts, even if it’s just on your own account.
In addition to producing incredible content that effectively deals with mental illness, you’ll gain valuable insights into the realms of film production and social media. You’ll learn about the diverse range of roles available and the different paths you can take to pursue them, which will be beneficial for your future career considerations. Furthermore, you’ll benefit from high-quality mentoring and support, aimed at enhancing your skills in the wider field of marketing, communications and engagement.
This role is offered on a part time basis – 2 days per week (to be discussed) for 6-months from January 2024.
Hours of work: 09:30 – 17:30 (with one hour for lunch).
Pay: London Living Wage (currently £13.15 per hour).
