As a social enterprise, we put our money where our mouth is. We use our experience as a production company and the income we generate to create training and employment opportunities for offenders and ex-offenders. IJP also uses its income to fund the development of projects that serve a social purpose. These projects are delivered through our founder organisation Media for Development, which works to empower isolated communities through media. Hackney Youth Challenge Hackney Youth Challenge is a project working to enable young people in Hackney to make a positive contribution to their borough, gain community leadership and learn film-making skills. During 3 day/one-week intensive workshops teams of young people will make short films documenting a positive change they would like to achieve in their community or the good work carried by organisations they work with. The films will be entered into a competition to win one of five prizes of £1000 that will be used to make the change happen or support the work of youth organisations and groups. The bids will be judged by a panel of young people from Hackney, community leaders, and social entrepreneurs. The prizes will be awarded during a celebration event in September 2011. |
