great films with a purpose

As a social enterprise, we put our money where our mouth is. We use our experience as a production company and the income we generate to create training and employment opportunities for offenders and ex-offenders.

IJP also uses its income to fund the development of projects that serve a social purpose. These projects are delivered through our founder organisation Media for Development, which works to empower isolated communities through media.

Jobs on the Out
Jobs on the out is a DVD and digital resource aimed at offenders, ex offenders and those who work with them to raise their aspirations about employment opportunities. It will feature interviews with a range of employers who work with this minority group, a breakdown of what they’re looking for in a candidate and discussing the job opportunities and what they expect in terms of disclosure.

There will also be personal stories from offenders and ex-offenders, who will discuss their background, how they got work, training they have undertaken and how they are adapting to the workplace and a whole new career.

The project will highlight special schemes that focus on training and recruiting direct from prisons or while the prisoners are on day release. All interviews will be tagged to a database of available jobs which will be searchable by job type, educational levels and likes and dislikes. The project is due for launch at the end of August 2011.
